Explore The Accessibility Among Rural Communities To Adopt Ict In Tanjong Karang, Selangor.

Abstract

Nowadays, information and communication technology (ICT) affects all aspects of human existence. They make significant contributions to business, education, entertainment and the workplace. In the twenty-first century, access to information technology will be critical for rural communities to remain economically competitive in attracting and retaining businesses. However, due to their sparse population, rural areas have difficulty affording expensive technology investments such as those required for broadband. In addition, historical data show that adoption rates in rural areas are typically much slower than in metropolitan areas, which hinders the development of demand needed to generate the funds needed to create infrastructure. At a time when the use of basic internet services is still growing, the digital divide between rural and urban areas is widening. This study focuses on the implementation of the PADU system, as well as discussing the importance of the PADU system to rural communities and the skills required to use the system. In this study, three women, of various ages, make up these respondents. The sample interviewed was taken from the community population in Tanjong Karang, Selangor. The method used to conduct this investigation is a qualitative method. A popular qualitative research technique for finding, examining and summarising patterns (themes) in data is thematic analysis. Through a data analysis approach that involves interviews, this research aims to identify the main obstacles that prevent the use of ICT and explore potential strategies to increase accessibility, especially in using the PADU system. The findings reveal a range of challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited digital literacy, concerns about affordability and cultural resistance.
