The introduction provides an overview of the importance of local authorities in the development of smart cities and their role in leveraging technology and data to improve the quality of life for citizens. The study's theme is finance, and the method used is qualitative research. The survey method employed is interviews, and the location of the study is the Seremban City Council. The respondent interviewed is Mr. Muhammad Sharul Azwan Bin Mohd Shukor, an Assistant Officer at the Building Planning Department. The finding of the study reveals a positive relationship between the financial dimensions of smart cities and the role of local authorities. This suggests that effective financial management and allocation of resources by local authorities are crucial for the successful implementation of smart city projects. The general contribution of the study lies in providing valuable insights into the financial aspects of smart cities and the challenges faced by local authorities. It highlights the need for appropriate financial planning, resource allocation, and long-term strategies to ensure the successful development and sustainability of smart city infrastructure and services.
